About The Curious Hideaway at The Curious Hideaway, Weston-super-Mare

The Curious Hideaway began with three market traders. Tara Pearce, Hannah Di Nardo and Juliet Bailey crossed paths at Weston Independent Market, and decided Weston-super-Mare needed a welcoming home for independent makers, alternative fashion, holistic living and gothic-inspired creativity.

In the founders’ own words, they wanted somewhere that feels “like home for people who live a little outside the ordinary”.

The shop opened on West Street, near Weston College, in 2026, and celebrated with a grand opening on Sunday 31 May. It opened with 20 stockists, and the founders said they had been blown away by the support from the people of Weston.

How the shop works

We are not a single brand with a single buyer. The shop is shared by independent makers and curators, who each rent shelf space and fill it their own way. That is why every corner looks different, and why there is a real person behind everything you pick up.

It also means the shop never stands still. New work arrives when it is ready, one-offs leave when they sell, and each visit turns up something you did not see last time.

Who you will find here

From a jeweller whose work has been in Vogue, to a maker who has rescued hundreds of dolls from landfill, to a crafter with 18 years of crochet behind her at just 23, our stockists are the heart of the place. Meet them all, or browse by what you are looking for.
